Last night was a very interesting night. We were harassed by giant African spiders. The night started with a loud scream of fright coming from the bathroom. Running over there, Christina and I discovered that there was a huge, hairy, tarantula-like spider in the bathroom. This spider had sitting on Elise’s toilet paper and when she saw it she had screamed and threw the toilet paper over the counter…so now the spider was cornered by the counter. After going through several minutes of playing “not me” to kill the spider, Elise finally put on a tennis shoe and finished the job.
Around 1am, I was awakened by more screams coming from Elise and Kate’s bedroom. Apparently another spider like the one in the bathroom had crawled under their door and was now loose in the room. After nearly an hour of screaming, the spider was finally cornered and stomped on. According to Kate this was “the worst night ever!!!” Since I was not the one in the room that had the spider in it, I won’t say that, but I will say it was a very interesting night!! TIZ…this is Zambia! Like I’ve said before…nothing ordinary ever happens around here!
The worst part part about it is that according to the EOH staff, that spider was nothing compare to the spiders we’ll see in the bush of Chongwe…80. Yes…the next few weeks are going to be very interesting!! God’s grace will have to carry us “city girls” through the next few weeks as we face a lot of things that we are not used to! Only His grace is going to be sufficient to strengthen us! May His name be glorified!!
“For the glory of God!”
