Day 17: Planning our summer

Today we spent all day at the EOH office making plans and writing schedules for the summer. We wrote out a huge calendar of the next 7 weeks and wrote down everything we need to do before we leave. We planned a girl’s party and a guy’s party for the Lusaka kids, a combined party for the Chongwe kids, 2 days of training for Camp Hope, 1 field day for al the kids, 2 gift days, and 1 Camp Hope. When we were done with all that we added each day that we want to go visit the kids, the days teams are arriving and leaving, when our sponsorship paperwork is due, and bible studies and tutoring sessions with the kids.

When we were done with all that we sat down and planned our weekly bible studies. We picked a topic and split the kids into 4 age groups. Then each of us interns chose the age we want to teach and sat and planned our first bible study. I have the youngest age group and the topic of the summer is going to be the fruit of the Spirit. So I spent  about 2 hours planning my first lesson with the kids.

When we were done with that we made a list of all the supplies we needed, planned shopping days and we were done. We now have our entire summer mapped out down the most miniscule details. All said and done we have less then 1 week of “down time” to work on our sponsorship duties. Even then, we’ll be busy those days too. It’s going to be an insanely busy, yet Christ centered summer!! I am eagerly anticipating every minute of it, and every lesson from it! I know that God is going to be glorified through the work that is being done this summer, and I thank the Lord that I have the blessed privilege of being here to see that happen!

                                         “For the glory of God!”
